Administrative Assistant


The Administrative Assistant responsibilities include the ability to multi-task, while maintaining complex schedules and managing administrative support. The ideal candidate for the Administrative Assistant job is resourceful, a good problem solver, organized, and has strong interpersonal skills to work with all levels of internal and external partners. Assuring a steady completion of workload in a timely manner, strong verbal and written communication skills and sensitivity to confidential matters is key to success in this position. Ultimately, a successful Administrative Assistant will ensure efficient and smooth day-to-day operation of our non-profit organization.

The Autism Society of Alaska’s Executive Committee  


The 20 hour a week salary position will work with the Executive Board to assist with the day to day requirements of a non-profit organization. They will follow out duties in reference to the strategic plan in accordance with the organization’s mission. The Administrative Assistant will focus directly on logistic operations needed to maintaining the non-profit status the Autism Society of Alaska has achieved.

-Must communicate well orally and in writing

-Motivated and driven to further the success of the Autism Society of Alaska

In coordination with the Board of Directors the Administrative Assistant is responsible for managing the operations and logistics of the non-profit.


-Answer, record, and check e-mails and voicemails for Information and Referral inquiries

-Organize and schedule board meetings and appointments

-Plan meetings and file detailed minutes of meetings for records

-Write and distribute email, correspondence memos, letters, and forms internally and externally

-Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports and meetings

-Develop and maintain a filing system

-Update and maintain office policies and procedures as needed

-Order office supplies and research new deals and suppliers

-Maintain contact lists

-Correspond with accountant to reconcile expense reports

-Act as the point of contact for internal and external contacts

-Liaise with executive board to handle requests

-Ensure the organization remains in good standing with State Requirements and National Requirements

-Organize fundraising events, such as a raffle or silent auction

-Coordinate travel/accommodations for Board of Directors and guest speakers or trainers as needed

-The majority of time is spent is in an office environment, though there are occasional off-site activities that require driving or occur outside regular business hours.


-Proven experience as an administrative assistant duties

-Knowledge of office management systems and procedures

-Working knowledge of office equipment

-Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, google documents)

-Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work

-Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

-Excellent written and verbal communication skills

-Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask

-High School degree; additional qualification as an Administrative assistant or Secretary will be a plus
